The 12 Days Uganda Rwanda Wildlife and Cultural Safari is a medium safari that enables you to explore the best of Uganda and Rwanda.   • Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park. Visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary en route

    After breakfast at your place of stay in Kampala, embark on the transfer to Murchison Falls National Park in the north of Uganda 311km about 5 hours’ drive. You drive through amazing flat landscapes of Nakasongora before branching off at Nakitoma for 7 km to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. The Sanctuary is a home to White Rhinos and thus offers impressive Rhino tracking. After this activity, continue on the drive to Murchison Falls National Park for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

    Accommodation: Paraa Safari Lodge (Upmarket / Luxury), Pakuba Safari Lodge (Midrange / Standard) or Heritage Safari Lodge (Budget / Basic).

    Day 2: Do morning game drive and afternoon Nile launch cruise & hike to the top of the falls.

    After an early morning cup of tea at the lodge, head to the park for a morning game drive which tend to last 3 – 4 hours exploring the park’s wilderness in detail. The activity is conducted in the northern section of the park which is a common dwelling ground for counts of wildlife including lions, Rothschild giraffes, leopards, elephants, Buffaloes, Jackson Hartebeest, Oribis, Kobs among others. Retreat from the activity back to the lodge for relaxation and lunch after which you gather at Paraa Jetty for an afternoon Nile launch cruise departing at 2pm to the bottom of the falls. The boat offers you opportunities of encountering Nile Crocodiles, Hippos and the vulnerable shoebill stork not forgetting other wild game drinking water on the river banks. The stretch to the bottom of the falls and the eventual hike to the top of the falls exposes to the thunderous roar of the Nile River which is the longest in the world as it squeezes its self to pass through a less than 8m ravine forming a plume of spray marked by a trade mark rain bow as it falls 43m below to what has been termed as the Devil’s Cauldron. Retire from the 3 hour activity for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

    Day 3: Transfer to Kibale National Park. Whole day drive 

    After breakfast, embark on the transfer to Kibale National Park 441km about 9 hours’ drive passing through verdant country side landscapes with rural home steads and plantations, You will arrive in Murchison Falls National Park in the evening for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

    Accommodation: Ndali Lodge (Upmarket / Luxury), Chimpanzee Forest Guesthouse (Midrange / Standard) or Rwenzori View Guesthouse (Budget / Basic).

    Day 5:   Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Visit Bunyangabu bee keepers, Rwenzori Art foundation and Ruboni Community craft center

    After breakfast, embark on the transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park 157km about 3 hours’ drive excluding stops en route.  You make stops en route to explore the local people and their remarkable initiatives. The Bunyangabu bee keepers allow you to explore the local bee keeping business and how they have blended the traditional methods to modernity to attain transformation. They also have impressive wax processing encounter. You proceed to visit the Rwenzori Art foundation which is the only bronze casting center in the whole of Africa with a range of sculptures on display and offering the opportunity to participate in the experience. The eventual encounter is the Ruboni community craft village where you visit the local women who have positioned themselves to demonstrate their culture through art and craft. Continue on the drive to Queen Elizabeth NP arriving at the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

    Day 6: Do morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise along the Paradise of Hippos – the 45km long Kazinga Channel
    What you will see during a game drive at Queen elizabeth National Park

    After an early morning cup of coffee, embark on the game drive in the rolling savannah plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park extending to the Kasenyi tracks exploring the park’s unique landscape dotted with counts of wildlife including lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, water bucks, jackals among others. The activity lasts 3 – 4 hours after which you return to the lodge for relaxation and lunch after which you transfer to Mweya jetty for an afternoon boat cruise along the Paradise of Hippos. The Kazinga Channel which stretches to 45km in length at one time had great concentrations of Hippopotamus in the region which prompted the management to carry out the great Hippo culling of 1960s. You enjoy the view of the Nile crocodiles not forgetting other wild game drinking on the channel shores. Retreat from the 2 hour activity, do a game along the channel track as you head to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

    Day 7: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. Do a game drive in Ishasha sector in search of tree climbing lions

    After breakfast, embark to Lake Bunyonyi 289km about 8 hours’ drive. You undertake a game drive in Ishasha sector in search of tree climbing lions along with other wild game. The tree climbing lions tend to lie on fig tree branches in the mid-morning sun.  After this encounter, continue on the drive to Lake Bunyonyi driving through the fascinating Kigezi Highlands arriving in the evening for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

    Day 8: Do sunrise boat cruise on Lake Bunyonyi and transfer to Kigali

    After a relaxed breakfast, embark on a sun rise boat cruise on the lake exploring the scenic landscapes of the lake and reach out to some of its 29 Islands amidst the rolling hills of Kigezi. The 3 – 4 hour boat cruise is a rewarding adventure worth undertaking. Retreat from the activity and embark on the transfer to Kigali arriving in the evening for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

    After your  breakfast at your place of stay in Kigali city embark on the drive to Gisozi genocide memorial to pay a visit to the counts of Rwandese who lost their dear lives during the bloody genocide that befell Rwanda in the year 1994. The number of skulls line in the building and the respective writings gives you a fresh picture of what exactly transpired during that period. From Gisozi, you will transfer to Nyamata genocide site for a more horrific encounter where the people were killed miserable by smashing their heads on the walls of the church where they had sought refuge. Retire for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

    Day 10: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

    After breakfast, embark in the drive through the rural landscapes of Rwanda crossing the border back to Uganda. Drive through the rolling Kigezi Highlands, have lunch in Kabale town and transfer to the Lake Mburo in the evening for relaxation and overnight.

    Day 11: Do morning game walking safari and afternoon boat cruise on Lake Mburo
    You will head to the park early in the morning after breakfast for a thrilling game drive in the impressive acacia savannah landscapes of Lake Mburo National Park. The possible highlights include the Impala which are only found in this park in Uganda, the Burchell’s Zebra – Mburo has the highest number of them in Uganda, the eland, the Topi, warthog, buffaloes, water buck among other wild game. The impressive sceneries of the park are very interesting to encounter. Retreat from the 3 – 4 hour activity return to the lodge for relaxation and lunch after which you will connect to Lake for an afternoon recreational boat cruise. The boat allows you to explore the Lake Mburo which has got a rich heritage behind its formation and its name. Listen to the guide for the first hand information. The sights of hippos and birds like the cormorants and the African fish eagle may not be missed. Retie for dinner and overnight at the lodge

    Day 12: Visit the Banyankole community and transfer to Kampala

    Wake up at 6am to connect to the neighboring Enyemebwa center where Ankole long horned cattle thrive in the rolling traditional rangelands of Ankole. You encounter the traditional Banyankole pastoralist homestead marked with impressive architectural hut, kraal and the herd’s men. You can participate in hand milking and set out to graze in the field. You retreat after watering the cows and embark on the transfer back to Kampala 240km about 3 - 4 hours making a stop at Uganda Equator crossing Kayabwe for amazing photo shoots and souvenir purchase.

    Ruzizi Tented Camp has nine (9) tents which can up to twenty (20) clients. Every tent features an en suite bathroom that has cold and hot running water, dressing area, either 3/4 twin beds or comfortable queen beds, a front side patio and each tent is accessed by wooden board walks that lead to and from the main reception area.
    Ruzizi Tented Camp has a family tent that can accommodate up to four (4) people and a tree top tent. It also has a thatched central reception area along with a dinning and lounge bar. There is an extensive deck that has a fire place under a large fig tree with the view of Lake Ihema.
