The 6 Days Adventure safari in Uganda and Rwanda takes you to Rwanda known as the land of a thousand hills with a gorilla trekking encounter in the Volcanoes National Park on the slopes of the Virunga Volcanoes; the genocide memorial encounter is a living experience of the 1994 genocide extremity that befell Rwanda. Encountering the Uganda’s Mountain gorilla in the impenetrable forest of Bwindi where 400 out of the 880 are known to be living along with the golden monkey tracking in the Mgahinga Gorilla National Park which shelters the three Virunga Volcanoes couples with the thrilling boat cruise on the Lake of a thousand Islands - Lake Bunyonyi with its 29 islands surrounded by the fascinating Kigezi Highlands combine to generate ultimate Africa safari memories.

  • Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park & Visit the Musaze Caves in the afternoon

    The guide will pick you from your place of stay or upon arrival at the airport to head for 116km journey over 3 hours’ drive to Volcanoes National Park. You will be mesmerized by the scenic views of the country side and then you will arrive in Ruhengeri – region where Volcanoes National Park is located. Upon arrival, you will visit the ancient caves of Musaze which are cathedral like natural features noted to have been used as hiding place for the Rwandan royals during the times of war and storage for supplies and food. Retire for relaxation and overnight.

    Accommodation: Mountain Gorilla View Hotel (Luxury/upmarket), Lapalme Hotel (Midrange/standard) or Muhabura Hotel (Budget/basic)

    Day 2: Do Gorilla trekking & cross to Uganda
    After breakfast, gather at the Kinigi Park headquarters at 8am to start with a briefing session from the rangers about the gorilla trekking conduct. The before trek experience is spiced by a cup of coffee grown from the Rwandan soils amidst traditional Kinyarwanda performances. After this session, you will be allocated a respective gorilla family to track and head to the forest in the slopes of Virunga Volcanoes in search of the critically endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitats. The trek for the gorillas is one of the lifetime experiences that you will always wonder to have had. Hiking the slopes and challenging landscapes is an experience in its self while the magical scenery of the Virunga Volcanoes, the rolling hills of Rwanda, impressive flora and the birds combine to make the gorilla trek to go beyond only gorillas. The one hour of direct encounter with the gorillas is availed to you upon reaching them and will be utilized maximum by asking the questions that you wish to know about gorillas from the Ranger, taking life time pictures and viewing of the gorillas themselves. Retreat from the activity which tends to last 2 – 8 hours to the starting point after your picnic lunch and then transfer to Uganda and Mgahinga Gorilla national Park in particular for relaxation and overnight.

    Day 3: Do golden Money tracking & transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

    After breakfast, embark in the golden monkey tracking starting at 8am at the Mgahinga park headquarters. The golden monkey trek is one of the thrilling encounters that you can have while on safari in Rwanda and Uganda. The golden monkeys are among the critically endangered primate species that are only thriving in the Virunga massif on global scale. They have impressive skin colors that have got a golden patch on their back thus attractive to look at. After this encounter which tends to last for about 4 hours, you will retreat to the lodge for lunch and then transfer to Lake Bunyonyi passing through magical sights of the rolling hills of Kigezi known as Kigezi Highlands – the Switzerland of Africa. Branch off at Muko from the main Kisoro – Kabale road which is very scenic to drive along Lake Bunyonyi known as the lake of a thousand islands connecting to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

    Day 4: Have a sun rise boat cruise on Lake Bunyonyi & transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

    After breakfast, embark on the boat cruise on the lake of a thousand islands amidst the rolling hills of Kigezi. The boat will enable you explore the major islands and the history behind them. The boat can take 5 hours before returning to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, you will embark on the drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park via the fascinating views if the farmed Kigezi Highlands arriving in the evening for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

    Accommodation: Chameleon Hill Lodge (Upmarket/Luxury), Gorilla Mist Camp (Midrange/Standard) or Broadbill Forest Camp (Budget/Basic).

    Day 5: Do gorilla trekking & optional evening Batwa Community tour

    Gather at the respective park headquarter in the morning after an early heavy breakfast for briefing about the gorilla trekking encounter by the park rangers at 8am. After briefing, you will head to the forest for the thrilling gorilla trekking adventure. The hike across the varied landscapes of Bwindi marked with deep valleys, steep hills and dense vegetation cover is very rewarding. The moment you come across the critically endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat is one those must list moments that you can ever encounter in the life time. The gorilla trek lasts between 2 – 8 hours and after the one full hour of direct encounter with them; you will return the starting point and transfer to the lodge for an afternoon relaxation. In the afternoon, you can do an optional Batwa Community tour to encounter one of the last groups of the short surviving people in the world with their unique ancient heritage. Retire for dinner and overnight

    Day 6: Transfer to Kigali & visit the Gisozi genocide memorial

    After breakfast, embark on the transfer to Kigali city Rwanda driving through impressive country side landscape with amazing scenery. Upon your arrival in Kigali, you will visit the Gisozi genocide memorial to pay tribute to the counts of Rwandese who lost their lives through the bloody genocide that occurred in Rwanda in the year 1994. The genocide is am living museum of what actually occurred and it brings out the extremeness of human hatred and its likely consequences. Catch up with your evening flight back home.

    Ruzizi Tented Lodge

    Ruzizi Tented Camp has nine (9) tents which can up to twenty (20) clients. Every tent features an en suite bathroom that has cold and hot running water, dressing area, either 3/4 twin beds or comfortable queen beds, a front side patio and each tent is accessed by wooden board walks that lead to and from the main reception area.
    Ruzizi Tented Camp has a family tent that can accommodate up to four (4) people and a tree top tent. It also has a thatched central reception area along with a dinning and lounge bar. There is an extensive deck that has a fire place under a large fig tree with the view of Lake Ihema.
