You definitely require a passport to enter Rwanda and this has to be having six months validity right from the date of entry. The citizens of the East African community is do not require passport to enter Rwanda. They can use an admissible temporary document. The passport must have at least one blank page where they can put a visa stamp.
Rwanda requires nationals of various states apart from the exempted ones to apply and pay for the Visa. The applications are submitted at the Diplomatic Missions in their respective countries for consideration. In absence of the consulate, the traveller applies online requesting for a visa acceptance letter which will be presented upon arrival with a visa payment fee of $30.
However, the nationals of these countries can obtain the Rwandan Visa on arrival without prior application at the normal Rwanda visa fee of $30. These include; Australia, Israel, Germany, New Zealand, Sweden, Republic of South Africa, United States of America and United Kingdom.
The nationals of African countries that are not exempted can pay on arrival while visiting or transiting without necessarily making applications prior.
These nationals of these countries are exempted from Visa fees for 90 days namely; Hong Kong, Mauritius, Philippines, Democratic Republic of Congo and Singapore.
The citizens of the East African Community are accorded a visitor pass of six (6) months which is renewable and can be picked on arrival with no fee.
In case of visa expiry, there is a grace period of five (5) days to allow you depart or renew your visa with no penalty. Beyond that, you face penalty and might be refused the extension of the Visa.
