Day 1 of the 5 Days Gorilla & Chimpanzee Safari in Uganda: Transfer to Fort Portal Area, visit the Amabere g’ Nyinamwiru caves, hike the Fort Portal Cater lake field & transfer to Kibale National Park
Following your breakfast at your place of stay in Kampala, you will embark in the transfer to Fort Portal 300km about 4 – 5 hours’ drive from Kampala. The drive takes you through the impressive landscapes of Mpigi, Mityana, Mubende, Kyegegwa and Kabarole including extensive tea estates at Mpanga and eventually Fort Portal town. In fort portal, you will have lunch after which you will proceed to Amabere g’ Nnyinamwiru caves exploring the ancient Chwezi heritage which is the breast like features that geologically stalagmites and stalactites to be the breasts of Nnyinamwiru the daughter of Bukuku a self-enthroned king of the Chwezi empire following the disappearance of Ishaza. Nnyinamwiru cut off her breasts in protest of her father to refuse to breastfeed her son Ndahura who was from the right royal descent and was meant to take the throne. After his heritage tour, you proceed to hike the Fort Portal Crater lake field which is surrounded by a series of crater lakes with a steep conical hill named Kyeganywa that offers you impressive vows of the area and the distant Rwenzori Mountain. Retire from the activity and transfer to Kibale National Park 26km from Fort Portal for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 2 of the 5 Days Gorilla & Chimpanzee Safari in Uganda: Do Chimpanzee trekking in the morning & the afternoon walk in Bigodi wetland
Following your breakfast at the lodge, gather at the Kanyanchu Tourism Center at 8am for briefing. The park staff will handle this session and talk about the chimpanzee trekking conduct after which you head to the forest in search of our closest cousins. The hike through the jungle with sights of birds, impressive flora and other primate species like Black and white colobus monkeys and eventual encounter with the chimpanzees as they roll themselves in their natural habitat gathering fruit, socializing and making pant hooting calls combine to make your chimp tracking experience memorable. The Chimpanzee trekking tracking tend to last 2 – 5 hours and this include one hour of direct encounter with them. You will retreat to the starting point for short relaxation and take your lunch. After this, you will drive to the neighboring Bigodi wetland for and afternoon walk. The Bigodi wetland walk allows you to have an encounter with nature and the people. The swamp has counts of birds including the Great Blue Turaco, swamp animals like Sitatunga antelope and the touch of the community where you visit the traditional healer makes it more interactive. Retreat from this as activity and return to the lodge for relaxation dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, embark on the transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park driving along the scenic landscapes of the legendary Rwenzori Mountains towering to 5,109m above sea level with snowcapped peaks and the rolling savannah plains of Queen Elizabeth lying on the Albertine flats. You will arrive in Bwindi in the evening, check in at your lodge and spend and overnight.

Day 4 of the 5 Days Gorilla & Chimpanzee Safari in Uganda: Undertake mountain gorilla trekking & transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for a sun set boat cruise and relaxation
Following breakfast at your lodge, you will gather at the respective park headquarters in the region where you are going to track for briefing at 8am. The briefing which is conducted by the park staff details the conduct of gorilla trekking activity and at this moment, the gorilla family to track is also allocated per a group of eight (8) people. The eventual heading to the mist is a remarkable experience that will form part of your life time adventure. The forest tends to be covered by mist in the morning and hiking through the forest is an amazing adventure that is worthy your gorilla permit price. The activity tends to last between 2 – 8 hours inclusive of one hour direct encounter with gorillas. Encountering the mountain gorillas in their natural habitat is remarkably wonderful. These frightening and yet peaceful creatures would definitely welcome with fear and the silverback would have to punch a little on his chest to check your fighting status. Your concentration will be on your cameras as you tack as many photos as you wish without flash light to avoid provoking gorillas to reaction. Retreat from the activity when your time is used up and then return to the starting point. Upon reaching the starting point, you will head to Lake Bunyonyi driving through the fascinating highlands of Kigezi with remarkable sceneries. Arrive at Lake Bunyonyi in the afternoon and relax a little at your lodge before embarking on a thrilling sunset boat cruise exploring the lake with its 29 islands that have earned it a dub as the lake of a thousand Islands. Retreat from the activity for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

The drive will take you through impressive country side landscapes marked with rural homesteads, cattle farms and banana plantations. The en route small towns bustling with all sorts of informal businesses will make your way to Kampala. A lunch stop will be made at Igongo Cultural Center.

Queen Elizabeth National Park. Located within the western rift valley floor, Queen Elizabeth National Park was gazetted in 1952 as Kazinga National Park attaining its nomenclature from the 45m long Kazinga channel that bisects the park adjoining Lake George and Lake Edward. Queen Elizabeth National Park overlooks the highest point in Uganda Rwenzori Mountains with their snowcapped peaks as they were described by Ptolemy in 150AD as the mountains of the moon.
Lake Mburo National Park, The nomenclature of Lake Mburo National Park like most of other African areas cannot go without a legendary connotation. The legends have it that the two brothers named Kigarama and Mburo settled in the area that is currently occupied by Lake Mburo grazing their long horned cattle across the open savannah plains that thrive up to today.
Kidepo National Park, Located in the north eastern part of Uganda, Kidepo Valley National Park covers a geographical landscape of 1,442km2. It is in the district of Kaboong about 220km from Moroto the biggest town in the sub region and 700km from Kampala the Uganda’s capital city. Kidepo Valley National Park was established in the year 1962 and it contains 77 species of mammals, 475 bird species of which 60 are endemic to the park on the standards of Uganda.
Mgahinga National Park, which was established in 1991 covers a geographical surface of 33.7km2 making the smallest national Park in Uganda. Mgahinga National Park is the second habitat that contains the world’s critically endangered mountain gorillas and it is the only national park in Uganda with counts of the rare and endangered golden monkeys which only thrive in the Virunga massif in the whole world.
Murchison falls National Park, Regarded as Uganda’s largest protected area, Murchison Falls National Park was nowhere until 1952 when 3,840km2 of land in the North West part of Uganda were established as a national Park. Perched on the northern extreme of the western arm of the great East African rift valley, Murchison Falls National Park is 80km from Masindi town which is the largest town in the sub region and 311km2 from the city of Kampala, the Uganda’s capital.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park lies in the south west of Uganda stretching for 321Km2 at an elevation of 1,160 – 2,607 m above sea level. Bwindi is one of those areas in East Africa with large expanse of Afro montane lowland forest which dates back to the pre-historic era and is known to have survived the last ice age.
Mount Elgon National Park, Spreading to over 1,121km2 of land, Mount Elgon National Park lies with in the eastern side of Uganda close to Kenyan boarder 255km from Kampala which is the country’s capital city. Mount Elgon which was once the tallest in Africa before it was eroded to being the fourth tallest in East Africa rises up to 4,321m above sea level and is the oldest and largest single standing volcano in East Africa having last erupted approximately 24 million years ago.
Mount Rwenzori National Park, had earlier been described by Ptolemy a Greek geographer in 150AD as Lunae Montes translated as the Mountains of the moon and were thought to be the origin of the Nile River which is the longest in world and one of the natural wonders encountered by Uganda safari undertakers.
Kibale National Park, The park is located in the western part of Uganda sharing the districts of Kabarole and Kamwenge and is 358km surface transfer from Kampala the Uganda’s capital city and 26km from Fort Portal the largest town in the area. Kibale National Park is entirely forested landscape that stretches to 795km2 of land coverage and it is one of the mature remaining tropical rain forests in Uganda.
Semuliki National Park, Spreading to over 220km2 of land surface, Semuliki National Park is located in the west of Uganda in the county of Bwamba, Bundibugyo district. The park contains a range of species among which include 441 bird species and 53 mammal species. Established in 1993, Semuliki National Park is recognized among the newly established Uganda safari parks in Uganda.
