Day 1 of the 8 Days Gorilla Trekking Safari in Rwanda & Uganda: Drive to Gorilla haven of Volcanoes National Park
Start on your 8 days gorilla trekking safari in Rwanda and Uganda by transferring to Volcanoes National Park 116km about 3 hours drive. It is such amazing drive through the lush country side and the activities of the local people that has shaped the landscapes of Rwanda for centuries past. You will arrive early for lunch and relaxation. In the evening, you will take a nature walk to the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo.

Day 2 of the 8 Days Gorilla Trekking Safari in Rwanda & Uganda: Do gorilla trekking adventure
Wake up for an early cup of coffee, before gathering at Kinigi Park Headquarters for briefing about the gorilla trekking activity at 08:00am always conducted by park rangers. This gives highlights about the dos and donts while trekking gorillas. After briefing, you will traverse the jungle in search of the splendid mountain gorillas in the company of the park ranger guide which stretches between 2 -8 hours. You will walk through the luxuriant vegetation, climb raised gradients, ascend down the valleys before you encounter the great mountain gorillas as they munch their food and get astonished by the young gorillas playing and demonstrating their tactics which will prompt you to use up your camera space unknowingly. Your one hour with gorillas is done and return to the lodge for relaxation. You will embark on a cultural tour to the Ibyiwachu cultural village to explore into the Kinyarwanda culture in the evening.

Day 3 of the 8 Days Gorilla Trekking Safari in Rwanda & Uganda: Hike Bisoke volcano or Visit Dian Fossey center.
After an early breakfast, you can hike Mount Bisoke 3,711m above sea level. Stunning with its two cones that were formed out of eruption in 1957 , the Bisoke Volcano contains an amazing crater Lake known as Lake Ngezi about 11km from the summit. This activity on your gorilla trekking safari in Rwanda involves ascend of four (4) hours from the departure point. You will be astonished by a walk around the Crater Lake and stunning sights of Virunga ranges in Uganda, Rwanda and Democratic of Congo. The activity takes about 7 hours including ascending and descending. You will return to the lodge for relaxation and memory sharing.
Alternatively, you can opt to pay tribute to the famous American Primatologist Dian Fossey who did great work regarding the conservation of Wild Mountain gorillas. She established a research center at Karisoke which you can also visit on this gorilla safari in Rwanda. Her grave lies along that of her most loved silverback Digit. The activity also involves hiking through the forest amidst a relatively steep ascend. The activity is less strenuous compared to hiking Mount Bisoke. In the evening, you will cross to Ugandas Mgahinga Gorilla National Park to prepare for tomorrows Batwa cultural trail experience. It is 68km about 3 hours drive from Volcanoes National Park.

Day 4 of the 8 Days Gorilla Trekking Safari in Rwanda & Uganda: Batwa cultural trail
After an early breakfast, embark on Batwa cultural experience. The Batwa trail is quite rewarding as it exposes you to their hunting techniques, honey gathering, medicinal herbs and the technology of making Bamboo cups. The tour to the sacred Garama cave will create lasting memories on this Rwanda Gorilla safari. The Garama used to be a refugee for the Batwa and you will be moved by the sorrowful songs of women as they are reflected by the walls of this light deprived cave which will leave you amidst strong contemplations about the plight of this ancient heritage. After the Batwa encounter, drive 94km about 4 hours to Lake Bunyonyi the lake of a thousand hills amidst the great scenic views of Kigezi highlands.

Day 5 of the 8 Days Gorilla Trekking Safari in Rwanda & Uganda: Encounter Lake Bunyonyi
You wake up for breakfast in the morning before embarking on the memorable boat ride on Lake Bunyonyi. You will have a chance to explore its 26 islands while overlooking the highlands of Kigezi. Bunyonyi is more than just a lake, considering its second deepest lake position in East Africa and the rich flora and fauna that surround it. In the afternoon, embark on the transfer to Ugandans gorilla trekking haven of Bwindi (Rushaga/Nkuringo area).

Day 6 of the 8 Days Gorilla Trekking Safari in Rwanda & Uganda: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Uganda
Wake up very early to take breakfast before gathering for briefing and eventual gorilla trekking at the Park Headquarters in Rushaga. After short briefing, you will set off to the Impenetrable forest of Bwindi, very thick and sometimes had to penetrate as its name suggest. Trekking gorillas in Bwindi- Uganda is quite challenging as it involves rugged terrain shaped by valleys and steep slopes. The jungle is very lively with rich forest sounds. It ranges between 2 – 8 hours to undertake the gorilla trekking activity. You have one hour encounter with gorillas which will lure you into irreversible excitement of gazing at these great apes as they imitate what you do, young ones playing on ground and in tree branches, the sight of the giant silverback and the way they feed all combine to exhaust the capacity of your camera film. You will return to the lodge for relaxation. In the evening you can opt for a community walk to the Bakiga people or the Batwa community that surround the park.

Day 7 of the 8 Days Gorilla Trekking Safari in Rwanda & Uganda: Drive back to Kigali
After breakfast, embark on the transfer to Kigali city. It is 140km about 4 hours drive. The journey is quite charming with scenic views of Kigezi highlands, Virunga Volcanoes and hill sides of Rwanda. Arrive early enough to visit the Genocide memorial at Gisozi to pay tribute to the victims of Rwandan genocide.

Ruzizi Tented Lodge is a luxury tented accommodation facility in Akagera National Park. It offers accommodation in a range of twenty (20) beds that are connected by walkways. Ruzizi Tented Camp has nine (9) tents which can up to twenty (20) clients.
The Akagera Game Lodge is located within the park close to its southern entrance. The Lodge features a swimming pool, conference center and a tennis court. Accommodation is offered in standard rooms, deluxe, family and Junior Suite. The lodge features over 60 bed rooms.
Accommodation at Nyungwe Top View Hill Hotel is offered in twelve (12) units and four (4) of these feature twin beds while the eight (8) are apartments featuring queen sized beds. The rooms are self-contained. The Hotel also has a restaurant and a well-stocked bar.
Positioned at 2km distance outside Nyungwe Forest National Park. Gisakura guesthouse offers accommodation in twin, double and triple rooms which are self-contained and with provision of warm water on request. The Guesthouse also features a good restaurant.

The accommodation centers are built in African architectural style and they dissolve in the gorgeousness of the park.
Lake Kitandara Bwindi Camp, The lodge offers comfort at the midrange level without compromising the environment. Its architecture involves traditionally sourced materials. All tents feature comfortable beds, solar energy that is available for all hours of the day, en-suite washrooms with hot and cold showers and elegant furniture.
Buhoma Lodge, This lodge can be found inside the park with ten (10) relaxed cottages that have private verandahs from which guests can enjoy vistas of the park especially the Buhoma sector which is home to the Mubare, Rushegura and Habinyanja mountain gorilla families. Guests will find facilities like a comfy bed, en-suite bathroom facilities which feature hot and cold showers and a bath tub for some rooms
Kibale Safari Lodge is located on the way to Bigodi in Kanyanchu. Guest accommodation is offered in two (2) rooms on the main lodge building and five (5) other private luxury cottages which are well furnished and comfortable. The cottages have private toilets and showers with both cold and hot water. Meals and drinks are served in the onsite restaurant and the well-stocked bar.

Queen Elizabeth National Park. Located within the western rift valley floor, Queen Elizabeth National Park was gazetted in 1952 as Kazinga National Park attaining its nomenclature from the 45m long Kazinga channel that bisects the park adjoining Lake George and Lake Edward. Queen Elizabeth National Park overlooks the highest point in Uganda Rwenzori Mountains with their snowcapped peaks as they were described by Ptolemy in 150AD as the mountains of the moon.
Lake Mburo National Park, The nomenclature of Lake Mburo National Park like most of other African areas cannot go without a legendary connotation. The legends have it that the two brothers named Kigarama and Mburo settled in the area that is currently occupied by Lake Mburo grazing their long horned cattle across the open savannah plains that thrive up to today.
Kidepo National Park, Located in the north eastern part of Uganda, Kidepo Valley National Park covers a geographical landscape of 1,442km2. It is in the district of Kaboong about 220km from Moroto the biggest town in the sub region and 700km from Kampala the Uganda’s capital city. Kidepo Valley National Park was established in the year 1962 and it contains 77 species of mammals, 475 bird species of which 60 are endemic to the park on the standards of Uganda.
Mgahinga National Park, which was established in 1991 covers a geographical surface of 33.7km2 making the smallest national Park in Uganda. Mgahinga National Park is the second habitat that contains the world’s critically endangered mountain gorillas and it is the only national park in Uganda with counts of the rare and endangered golden monkeys which only thrive in the Virunga massif in the whole world.
Murchison falls National Park, Regarded as Uganda’s largest protected area, Murchison Falls National Park was nowhere until 1952 when 3,840km2 of land in the North West part of Uganda were established as a national Park. Perched on the northern extreme of the western arm of the great East African rift valley, Murchison Falls National Park is 80km from Masindi town which is the largest town in the sub region and 311km2 from the city of Kampala, the Uganda’s capital.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park lies in the south west of Uganda stretching for 321Km2 at an elevation of 1,160 – 2,607 m above sea level. Bwindi is one of those areas in East Africa with large expanse of Afro montane lowland forest which dates back to the pre-historic era and is known to have survived the last ice age.
Mount Elgon National Park, Spreading to over 1,121km2 of land, Mount Elgon National Park lies with in the eastern side of Uganda close to Kenyan boarder 255km from Kampala which is the country’s capital city. Mount Elgon which was once the tallest in Africa before it was eroded to being the fourth tallest in East Africa rises up to 4,321m above sea level and is the oldest and largest single standing volcano in East Africa having last erupted approximately 24 million years ago.
Mount Rwenzori National Park, had earlier been described by Ptolemy a Greek geographer in 150AD as Lunae Montes translated as the Mountains of the moon and were thought to be the origin of the Nile River which is the longest in world and one of the natural wonders encountered by Uganda safari undertakers.
Kibale National Park, The park is located in the western part of Uganda sharing the districts of Kabarole and Kamwenge and is 358km surface transfer from Kampala the Uganda’s capital city and 26km from Fort Portal the largest town in the area. Kibale National Park is entirely forested landscape that stretches to 795km2 of land coverage and it is one of the mature remaining tropical rain forests in Uganda.
Semuliki National Park, Spreading to over 220km2 of land surface, Semuliki National Park is located in the west of Uganda in the county of Bwamba, Bundibugyo district. The park contains a range of species among which include 441 bird species and 53 mammal species. Established in 1993, Semuliki National Park is recognized among the newly established Uganda safari parks in Uganda.
